Hope your holiday season is off to a lovely start!!
Last Monday, I had the chance to get out and explore Washington DC during a super long layover and it was divine! #WorkPerks
I haven't been to the nation's capital since I was 13, so I was stoked when I found out that's where I was headed. Also, my degree is in Political Science and English so you know my nerd heart was geeking out to see the historical sites. What's even better is that the weather was crisp and chilly and actually felt like fall :)
My first stop? The Lincoln Memorial. IMO, Abraham Lincoln was our greatest President. Perfect? Nah. But, he definitely set the bar high in his tireless fight for freedom and equality for all peoples. I also visited (and walked) to the Washington and Jefferson Memorials, both spectacular in their own right too. By that time I was tired so I hopped on the Circulator bus to swing by the White House.
DC is such a cool city - where history meets modernity and technology - it's a combination of old and new. It's the same land that our nation's founders walked on, lived in, etc. In my mind, that's SO cool!! Told ya I had a nerd heart. STOP JUDGING ME.
To top it all off, I ended the day with the world's best bowl of Lobster and Corn Chowder.
Not too bad for a Monday, eh?
Have you ever been to DC? If so, what are your favorite spots to visit? Let me know in the comments!
