I love Canada.
Can I even say that??
Or rather, I LOVE Vancouver. What a stunning place.
The last time I visited Vancouver City was years ago, when I went on a family vacation. Last month though, I went to visit my friend, G, who recently moved there. This time around, I fell in love with the city. The Pacific Northwest will be my home one day, count on it.
I flew directly out of Houston and made it there right around lunch time. G picked me up, and after we dropped my stuff off at his place, we decided to explore the city. It's nothing like Houston. On the weekends, downtown Houston looks like a ghost town. EVERYONE walks in Yaletown (i.e. downtown Vancouver). It's full of life and activity all day, every day. Plus, it doesn't hurt that you look around and see the gorgeous landscaping of mountains and the Pacific Ocean. #Views. We walked to the Skytrain and rode several stops until we arrived at Metrotown to do some shopping. This mall had shops and stores that I haven't seen since the 90s...it was surreal!
Let me just go ahead and let you know that I had some of the best food I've ever eaten during this trip. One night G and I went to dinner at Miku Restaurant. I had the BEST sushi of my life - the oshi sushi. Seriously, it's what dreams are made of. To this day, I still think about it. I also tried Poutine for the first time. Poutine y'all. What's that, you ask? It's french fries, topped with cheese curds and covered with brown gravy. You can even get extra toppings added in - bacon, scallions, etc. I could have seriously eaten it every day. Correction, I ALMOST ate it every day :) But wait, there's more. At a place called west OAK, we inhaled the most delicious cookies ever - white chocolate chip cookies with a warm vanilla bean cream dip. Are you salivating yet?! We shared these with new friends - shoutout LJ xxx - and lots of laughs.
One of the highlights of my trip was watching the Vancouver Whitecaps play at their gorgeous stadium, BC Place. The weather was perfect so they had the roof open, and the club level section was so much fun! Great service and the friendliest people! I loved getting to watch G and his teammates, and the energy was electrifying. I never thought I'd say this, but soccer (*football*) is the most exciting sport to watch live. I can see why soccer is huge all over the world.
My Vancouver Vacation was the perfect kick-off for fall. I was able to bust out scarves, boots, and jackets that I don't typically get to wear in the H. I was able to breathe mountain air and recharge my batteries. This was definitely a much needed hiccup in my crazy, busy, life.
Can't wait to share more fun travel adventures with you! I'd love to connect with you in the comments.
